Peninsula Courtyard
The concrete driveway at this 1954 coastal rancher on the peninsula had no plants or privacy at all. We replaced some of the concrete with golden path fines, built a privacy fence and gate to create a secluded seating area, and used recycled urbanite to create a raised bed for plants with strong forms and colors. Stylish pots hold specimen plants, and allow the space to be reconfigured for parties. The result is relaxed yet symmetrical, semi-formal, very low maintenance and uses zero water.
